Kurdistan Exports 300 to 400 Tons of Potatoes Weekly

Since the start of August, about 1,000 tons of potatoes from the Kurdistan Region have been sold to the UAE.

On August 7, dealers of potatoes from the Kurdistan Region and the UAE inked a contract in Erbil for the shipment of 5,000 tons of potatoes. According to the agreement, the amount in question may rise with the consent of all parties.

“The process of exporting Kurdistan potatoes to the UAE continues; about 300 to 400 tons of potatoes are exported each week through several containers,” Bashar Mushir, the general director of Kurdistan-Holland (K-H) Company for Agricultural Investments, told Kurdistan 24.

Additionally, statistics from the Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources show that farmers in the Kurdistan Region produced about 700,000 tons of potatoes this year, with about 500,000 of those tons coming from the Bardarash district of Duhok province.

KFC, McDonald's, and Hardee's restaurant franchises in the Gulf have recently targeted Kurdistan Region potatoes.
