Utz plans to keep company in family, no talk to Warren Buffett

George Neiderer, vice president of human resources at potato chips producer Utz, denies any discussion with Warren Buffett, who showed interested in overtaking the company.

"While we are flattered that a savvy investor like Mr. Buffett is interested in purchasing our company, no one has spoken with him or his company," said George Neiderer, according to eveningsun.com.

"We plan to remain a family-owned business," Neiderer said.

In an interview with Fortune on February 25, Buffett said he has talked with Utz management about buying the company.

Utz has been family owned since 1921, and has four manufacturing facilities that produce more than 1 million pounds of potato chips and about 850,000 pounds of pretzels each week.

Warren Buffett, the billionaire owner of Berkshire Hathaway, told Fortune that he was interested in buying Hanover-based snack maker Utz.
