Danespo Invests in Potato R&D Facility

The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Danespo’s new research & development facilities and headquarter in Vejle, Denmark, has started on January 22.

Mayor of Vejle Jens Ejner Christensen took part in the ceremony. “I am sure that Danespo, with the new buildings, will create some amazing frames for the development environment, which will ensure that it is also in the future will be Danespo that will create the future potato plants,” says Christensen.

The breeding facilities are expected to be ready for the R&D department in early August and the headquarters will be ready to move into in October.

The new construction will ensure the continued development in the breeding of new potato varieties. Subsequently, the new frames will also contribute to creating even stronger synergies in the organization.

Jens Holstborg, managing director of Danespo, said that it is important to continue to focus strongly on developing new potato varieties that form the foundation of their business development.

“We always have to be at the forefront and have new varieties on the way so we can be competitive both in Denmark and in the rest of the world. At the same time, we look forward to bringing the organization more together physically so that we can achieve an even higher degree of business leading synergies across our various departments. In addition, we are pleased to contribute to Vejle Municipality's continued development with a strong food cluster,” says Holstborg.
