A program aimed at lowering energy usage is also in place, and it includes the installation of electric boilers (also known as "e-boilers") and the utilization of solar energy to generate the necessary electricity.
By establishing a sustainable farming program with its members, Avebe also supports sustainability on the field. Because of this approach, less crop protection agents are now being used. In other words, Avebe is actively pursuing sustainability in every way.
Sustainable Initiatives significantly improved the Ecovadis Score for the Procurement Department Sustainability is also embedded in Avebe’s general purchasing conditions and has become part of supplier audits. Avebe has examined what they buy in addition to agreements with vendors. For example, by using trains more frequently, the share of truck transport has been lowered.
Furthermore, ingredients have been made more environmentally friendly. Palm oil-based ingredients are employed in the manufacturing process, and all processed palm oil in these ingredients has been RSPO certified since 2021. The RSPO standard is the broadest and most independent benchmark for more sustainable palm oil, protecting the environment and the local communities that rely on it. This standard is supported by the World Wide Fund for Nature.
