McCain is Demonstrating the Power of Regenerative Agriculture with the Help of Barb

A total of 12m hectares of arable land are lost to erosion on Earth every year. One soccer field every few seconds or so, roughly. The future of potatoes and French fries is in jeopardy because erosion destroys arable land.

Fortunately, regenerative farming has the potential to aid in restoring this healthy soil. McCain is highlighting the effectiveness of regenerative agriculture on National French Fry Day by proving to the world that anything is possible when people work together, even the return of Barb, a beloved TV character who left us too soon.

The public has long wished for Barb to return. To get their favorite character back, fans all over the world have started petitions, started social media campaigns, and even developed personalized products by demanding “Justice for Barb.” By taking the initiative to help bring Barb back, McCain has shown what is possible when we all pull together.

McCain illustrates how regenerative agriculture may restore good farming techniques, healthy soil, and thriving biodiversity through the use of this restored character. By 2030, McCain intends to have used regenerative farming methods on all of its potato-growing land.

McCain's fundamental tenets of regenerative agriculture include boosting crop and ecosystem variety, fortifying soils, limiting soil disturbance, minimizing chemical impacts, maximizing water use, and integrating organic and animal aspects.

“Sustainability has become an increasingly important consideration across all audiences - particularly among the younger generation, who have a growing passion and interest in protecting our environment. There's a higher likelihood of creating positive change than ever before. It's important to ensure that our sustainability initiatives connect with younger audiences. We want to continue encouraging sustainable practices in a way that resonates with them,” Tracy Hostetler, Vice President, of North American Potato Marketing at McCain Foods, mentioned.

McCain's continued efforts to educate consumers about sustainability and regenerative agriculture are included in this campaign. As part of its #SaveOurSoil campaign, McCain joined the metaverse last year with Regen Fries, which are fries created from regenerative potatoes.

McCain reached a venue where younger audiences may start to comprehend the difficulties now affecting the farming community and the advantages of regenerative farming by partnering with Roblox. By bringing Barb back this year, they fulfilled the wishes of their fans and showed that making a difference can be as easy as picking McCain fries.
