Potato Exports to Eastern and Southern European Countries Continue Strong

Potato stocks in Eastern and Southern European countries are described as “at an all-time low”, and export to these regions continues to be strong.
Except for the uncommon price increase, fresh potato markets are staying firm, and higher volumes of the new potato crop from Egypt and Israel are now arriving.
Because of the weather, potato seeding has been put on hold throughout much of the United Kingdom. Early indoor vegetables had disappointing yields because of inadequate lighting.
With the current weather in Ireland, domestic potato consumption is still strong, but all field labor and planting have been stopped. According to reports, a different exporter is interested in Irish goods for the mainland and has sent inquiries. As supplies on the continent are still low, exports to Portugal and Holland are continuing, and there is strong demand for more.
“The 2023 Scheme of Investment Aid for the Seed Potato Sector and the Chipping Potato Sector is now open and will close on Friday the 14th of April,” the latest IFA report reveals.
