USD100m PepsiCo Investment in Romanian Snack Factory Automated Systems

In addition to the USD320m invested over the previous ten years, PepsiCo is spending an additional USD100m on automated technologies at its Popești-Leordeni snacks facility in Romania to increase the site's production capacity.
Three manufacturing lines, an automated warehouse, and more automation systems at the factory will be built with the money. By 2024, the factory's construction should be finished.
According to Silviu Popovici, the CEO of PepsiCo for Europe, Romania serves as a crucial production and distribution base for the company's markets in Central and Eastern Europe.
“PepsiCo has been operating and investing in Romania for almost 30 years and we remain committed to further developing the business in the country. High-quality agricultural products and talented people are the basis of the growth of our business in the region. Now, as we implement PepsiCo Positive, the investments made will continue to advance our progress in the field of sustainability in Romania,” Popovici mentioned.
Adrian Lăcătuş, senior commercial director for PepsiCo in the Eastern Balkans, claims that the company is always evolving.
“We aim to deliver the quality our consumers expect through sustainable means and have a positive impact on the industry,” Lăcătuș declared.
Across several Romanian sites, the multinational food and beverage company has been investing in automation. PepsiCo increased its position as a major regional manufacturing and distribution base by investing USD320m in Romania over the past ten years.
