Tomra Food Appoints Potato Expert to Strengthen Its Global Sales Organization

Tomra Food has appointed Category Expert Marco Colombo as global category director, Potatoes. In this role, he will strengthen the company’s relationship with the potato industry even further and consolidate its position in the sector.

Marco Colombo is responsible for building and leading global, cross-functional teams to support customers with service and support in the industry. He is also in charge of assisting customers in developing a digital strategy and leveraging big data, analytics, AI, and machine learning, to optimize every aspect of their operation. In his role, he is tasked with establishing trusted and professional relationships with executives at the most important food organizations across the world.

He brings to our team advanced commercial leadership, and strategic capabilities he developed leading an international Business Unit. He knows our industry intimately, having worked for 17 years in the food and beverage sector and having held senior roles in the frozen potato industry in the last 10 years.”

In his new role as Global Category Director, Potatoes, Colombo said: “Potatoes tend to be considered a cheap staple food. But [what matters] is how we maximize their value that makes all the difference for our customers and for us. In my new role, I would like to add my grain of sand to maximizing all the potential added value still hidden in this category, which is huge.”

Colombo has spent his entire career in the food and beverage industry. In his most recent role as Head of Southern Europe, Brazil, and Maghreb Out-of-Home Business Unit at Lamb Weston Meijer, he was responsible for all commercial activities in the region.
