The partners agreed to take an active role in advancing and promoting OptiCept's PEF system, which is intended for use in solid food applications. This alliance's main goal is to provide superior service to food producers worldwide by improving cost control and process efficiency for a variety of solid food varieties.

“We believe that this partnership will help meet the growing needs in potato processing equipment but also in the food industry in general. We will be able to offer our customers the tools they need to deliver high-quality products and maintain competitiveness in a rapidly changing industry. Our goal is to combine the leading PEF technology with the market-leading food handling solutions available. I look forward with great excitement to starting our collaboration and introducing innovative PEF systems to the market,” Jeffrey Chang, CEO, of FPS, mentioned.

FPS Food Process Solutions provides comprehensive solutions for freezing, chilling, frying, and food handling. FPS was founded in 2010 and is based in Vancouver, Canada. Furthermore, the corporation has international sales offices on six continents and manufactures on numerous.

“The agreement with FPS is a strategic breakthrough into the solid food market. It opens up this large established market cost-effectively for OptiCept, which is completely in line with our suit and strategy. We see that we can establish ourselves in the market significantly faster and to a greater extent through this deep collaboration,” Thomas Lundqvist, CEO, of OptiCept, added.

With combined yearly market values estimated at EUR279 billion, processed potato products, dry vegetables, fruit, herbs, and frozen foods are the primary application areas for the joint PEF solution.

Together with FPS, OptiCept's PEF application for solid foods (JÖRD) will be developed further. As part of the partnership, FPS will provide the system that manages and processes the products up to the PEF treatment, while OptiCept will supply CEPT generators. The patented CEPT technology is still owned by OptiCept, but any future innovations created jointly and within the parameters of the partnership (solid meals) will be owned equally.
