Investor Group Acquires Ballreich’s Potato Chips Company

Ballreich’s Potato Chips – a Northwest Ohio family-owned snack company – has been acquired by a local investor group, a report The Courier recently revealed. Named the Ballreich Snack Food Company, this is a group formed by Northwest Ohio business professionals who want to see the company continue to grow and remain an area tradition.
According to the information, the group has already started discussing future expansion for the potato chip brand. Following the acquisition, operations at the company’s Ohio plant will continue uninterrupted. Ballreich’s will also retain the 55 team members which it currently employs.
The company was founded by Fred Ballreich and his wife, Ethel in 1920. The couple was responsible for coming up with the term “marcelled” for the name of the waves in the chips, which was based on a popular hairstyle of the time.
Ballreich’s product portfolio includes a wide range of options including chips featuring flavors such as Ghost Pepper Jack and Smokey Sweet Mesquite or with No Salt. The firm also offers other snacks including potato sticks, pretzels, popcorn, and tortillas.
