Idaho Falls Companies Support the College of Eastern Idaho Construction Combine

To assist regional initiatives for workforce development and education, Idaho Steel recently announced its relationship with the College of Eastern Idaho. The cooperation intends to highlight the potential in skilled trades and attract the upcoming generation of talented workers to the sector.
There is a rising need for qualified professionals from a variety of backgrounds as the food processing business develops. However, there is also a lack of people with the qualifications and experience needed to fill these positions. By exposing students to the knowledge and experiences required for success in the trades, the partnership between Idaho Steel and the College of Eastern Idaho seeks to address this problem.
The Construction Combine, a two-day event that combines classroom education with hands-on training, is one of the activities supported by the collaboration. Students will learn from industry specialists and put their knowledge to the test by constructing sheds for veterans in need.
Idaho Steel welding professionals Jay Bowman and Jared Bleak are leading students in hands-on instruction. Both Bowman and Bleak are enthusiastic about teaching aspiring welders. They are patient, engaging, and committed to assisting kids in succeeding. Their objective is to motivate students to acquire skills and knowledge that would help them succeed in their careers.
Heidi Oyola, Idaho Steel's Human Resource Director, is an advisor for the College of Eastern Idaho's Workforce Training section. Her commitment and firsthand knowledge of the sector will be invaluable in assisting the college in providing courses that not only teach the necessary skills but also provide real-world experience and insights.
Idaho Steel and the College of Eastern Idaho are collaborating to develop a competent and vibrant workforce for the business through events, internships, and other educational opportunities. The collaboration is beneficial not only to businesses but also to the community.
“We take pride in supporting local education and workforce development initiatives. Investing in the future of our industry and the skilled trades that power it is essential. We're excited to partner with the College of Eastern Idaho and showcase the opportunities available in the trades to recruit the next generation of talented professionals,” Oyola said.
The collaboration between Idaho Steel and the College of Eastern Idaho, as well as many others in the sector, demonstrates the value of investing in education and workforce development. With this collaboration, they hope to inspire other companies to do the same, resulting in a stronger workforce for years to come.
