Blair Richardson is the Newest Member of the WPC’s Board of Directors

The newest director of the WPC board was just revealed by the World Potato Congress.

“We warmly welcome Blair Richardson as a new member of our Board of Directors. Blair Richardson has played a pivotal role as an International Advisor to WPC over the past year. We are pleased that he has accepted the nomination to be part of the Board of Directors. As CEO of Potatoes USA, Blair brings a depth of knowledge and a global perspective which will bring significant value to the organization,” WPC President Dr. Peter VanderZaag said.

Since 2013, Blair Richardson has carried out his duties as Potatoes USA's CEO and President. Blair serves on several boards for the produce and potato industries, including the Alliance for Potato Research and Education, the Potato Leadership, Education and Advancement Foundation, and the Alliance for Food and Farming, among others, on behalf of Potatoes USA and the potato sector.

Richardson is passionate about the need to aggressively safeguard and preserve the reputation of the potato and actively participates in matters that are significant to the potato industry. He is a fervent supporter of aggressive marketing and advocacy strategies.

Before this, Blair held comparable positions with various private and commercial organizations in California and worked as the CEO and a partner of a sizable grower, packer, and distributor of fresh stone fruit, grapes, and citrus. He also actively farmed almonds and cherries.

In 2021, Richardson sold his final farm in California, capping a 32-year career that started in 1989 with a ten-year tenure in the California cotton sector.

To prepare for the 12th World Potato Congress, which will take place in Adelaide, Australia in June 2024, the WPC community is eager to collaborate with Blair.
