New “Focus on Potato” Webinar Rhizoctonia Canker and Black Scurf

The Plant Management Network (PMN) has released a new presentation entitled “Fungicide Management of Rhizoctonia Canker and Black Scurf” to help professionals protect against infected seed, soil-borne infections, and reductions in tuber quality.

Rhizoctonia infections of potato root systems can significantly increase cull rates when the resulting scurf fungus makes tuber skin look dirty and reduces overall grade.

The webcast, developed by Jeff Miller, president and CEO of Miller Research, describes how rhizoctonia infections affect tubers, roots and the flesh of potato plants. The presentation also discusses the:

  • Impact of rhizoctonia on tuber yield and quality
  • Year-to-year fluctuations in infection severity
  • Effectiveness of seed treatments and in-furrow fungicide applications

The 14-minute presentation will remain open access through May 31 in the Focus on Potato webcast resource.
