Sticking Labels on Potato Bags Means Saving the Day for PEI Volunteers

In order for PEI potato growers to ship once again their product to Puerto Rico, a label has to be placed on all cultivar bags going to the Caribbean island, indicating that the spuds are meant exclusively for consumption and cannot leave this territory.

In this respect, Islanders have found yet another way to support potato farmers by offering to help stick the necessary labels on potato bags to get them shipped to Puerto Rico.

Richelle Dowling is just one of the Islanders who have enlisted to help, according to CBC CA. Recently, she contacted the PEI Potato Board after seeing a social media post asking for volunteers to get stickers on the bags.

For Dowling, this is just “the right thing to do,” following what has been a major crisis for one of PEI's most important industries.

The Potato Board has been taking the names of volunteers such as Dowling and connecting them with businesses shipping product out.
