China Imports Record Levels of US Frozen Potato Products

For the first time, Chinese imports of frozen potato products from the United States topped the 100,000 metric ton level.

Based on Chinese Customs data imports of U.S. products were 107,279 MT for July 2015 - June 2016, according to the Northern Plains Potato Growers Association.

This is up 25% over the previous marketing year and 10% higher than the previous record of 97,878 MT from 2013/14. The US. has also regained its market share, achieving 72% this past marketing year after dropping to 66% in 2014/15. This shows that the US was able to overcome the disruptions in supplies from the west coast port issues and the flood of less expensive product from the EU.
