Campden looks at what the food industry needs in its latest publication

Campden BRI has released its triennial publication on the scientific and technical needs of the foods and drink industry.

The production, preservation and manufacturing of food and drink relies heavily on science and technology. It also faces many challenges. This document identifies those challenges that the food industry faces over the next 3-5 years that can be met through science and technology.

It has two main functions. First, it is used by Campden BRI as part of its business planning activities - to ensure that our activities are targeted at the scientific and technical needs of our members and other clients.

Second, it is used to promote the needs of the sector more widely - to government departments, funding bodies, and other third parties - to encourage additional support and application of science and technology within the sector.

The needs presented in this document were compiled by Campden BRI through extensive consultation with our members in the food and allied industries - from producers of raw materials and ingredients through manufacturers and processors to retailers and food service organisations, taking in allied companies such as equipment and packaging suppliers, agrichemical companies and service providers.
