ProFood Tech 2019 Brings the Latest in Processing Technology

A recent report and infographic from PMMI – the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies – covering Global Trends Influencing Food and Beverage Processing has revealed that environmental and economic factors are currently having a significant impact on the global food and beverage processing market.

With environmental awareness on the rise, concerns regarding depletion of natural resources, tighter regulations and heavier taxes to protect the environment, as well as ways to minimize waste and save energy are driving changes in the industry, say the researchers. Economic factors include financial and political uncertainty, low-order backlogs, dampened capital investments and changes in trade and security policies.

What’s more, processors are also driven to upgrade and invest in new machinery by shifting consumer demands, pricing pressures and the need to differentiate themselves from the competition.

The new report comes as one of the leading global processing tradeshows for the food and beverage processing industries, ProFood Tech is expected to open it gates in late March (26-28).

According to PMMI, the food and beverage processing machinery market is set to expand from USD5.3bn in 2016 to USD6.1bn in 2021. At the same time, the Chicago-held biannual fair expects to welcome 7,000 professionals from this growing industry.

Top exhibitors at ProFood Tech include Tetra Pak, Bosch, DuPont and Chr. Hansen. The fair is produced by three of the world’s show leaders, Pack Expo, Koelnmesse (organizer of Anuga) and the International Dairy Food Association.

During the event, attendees can expect to take part in the events organized by the Impact Zone, which is said to encourage interactive discussions and offer opportunities to learn from experiences and successes of industry colleagues. The Innovation Zone will help industry players find solutions and uncover fresh opportunities, while the Disruption Zone is dedicated to deliver a series of sessions on the implementation of disruptive technologies. Additionally, ProFood Tech will also offer a free educational program, called the Knowledge Hub, which will be curated by the International Dairy Food Association (IDFA). The event is dedicated to showcasing new crossover technologies and innovation solutions from 400 exhibitors.
