China Potato Expo Opens Online

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of the People’s Republic of China, the 2020 China Potato Expo Online opened on June 10, 2020. Vice Minister Zhang Taolin attended and addressed the opening ceremony in Beijing.
The official noted that with hard work over the past 30 years, China’s potato industry has been well-established, emerging as one of the promising sectors in agriculture.
China Potato Expo has played a significant role in promoting the development of the potato industry and international potato trade, increasing potato consumption, and improving public nutrition and health.
The minister stressed that as an international platform, the Expo will be more professional and market-oriented with an international perspective to better serve farmers, enterprises and potato industry, and attract a larger international audience.
In response to COVID-19, this year’s Expo was held online for the first time. Nearly 1,000 domestic and overseas potato enterprises took part in the virtual expo and over 50,000 visitors worldwide were attracted to the virtual event.
