Vion to Sell Oerlemans Foods

Vion has agreed to sell Oerlemans Foods later this year to investment company H2 Equity Partners, for a price that will remain undisclosed.

As Oerlemans Foods' Works Council has been informed about the proposed sale, the parties expect to be able to complete the transaction during the second quarter of 2014, after obtaining the required statutory approvals, according to the announcement made by Vion on March 7.

Having an independent position within the Vion Group, Oerlemans Foods is a manufacturer of frozen fresh vegetables, fruit and potato products. It will be sold as part of Vion’s revised strategy, which means to divest companies that are no longer part of the core activities. With a turnover of EUR 6,5 billion, Vion produces and processes high-quality pork and beef products in the Netherlands and Germany. It supplies client-specific products to retail, industrial and foodservice clients on its home markets as well as the rest of the world.

H2 is looking forward to further reinforcing Oerlemans' excellent starting position both on the basis of its Dutch and Polish operations, the announcement said. Based in Venlo, Oerlemans has a turnover of approximately EUR 135 million and employs a staff of 740, with production plants in the Netherlands and Poland. Having a range of over 1,000 products and the brands Oerlemans, Keizer, Bio+ and Bauer, the Dutch company focuses on the international foodservice, retail and industrial markets. The head office is located in Venlo NL and the company has production plants in the Netherlands and Poland.
