Two New Members Join Europatat

Europatat has recently announced that Schaap Holland is becoming a new member of the association, while it previously said that the online trading system Potato Market became associated member.

Founded in 1967, Schaap Holland’s headquarters are located in Biddinghuizen, in the central province of Flevoland, Netherlands. From there, Schaap not only collects, grades, wash and processes potatoes for their industry, foodservice and retail markets, but also cooperates with professional breeders on the development of new varieties and production of seed potatoes that are sold worldwide.

With a strong reputation as an “all-rounder” company in the potato sector, Schaap Holland is specialized in breeding and selling seed potatoes nationally and internationally; processing potatoes into PolderGoud chilled potato products to the European foodservice and retail sectors; supplying the European processing industry and trading ware potatoes in wholesale packaging worldwide.

Potato Market is an online trading system that puts together producers/suppliers and buyers on the same platform without intermediaries, expanding the trade network in a transparent, easy to use, fast and reliable way.

Created by experienced professionals of the potato sector, Potato Market has three main objectives: accessibility, meaning removing barriers and reaching a greater number of producers and buyers; information, meaning providing direct and updated information about supply and demand and democratizing prices, meaning the prices are fixed within a transparent market that allows to reduce fluctuations and to harmonize the market.

This new trade model is completely adapted to the rules and practices of the potato sector in Europe: it uses the same crop identification criteria as CNIPT (the French National Interprofessional Potato Committee) and the EUROCELP quality standards. Potato Market also includes RUCIP in its digital contracts.
