Royal Cosun’s Growth Driven By Aviko

Royal Cosun, the parent company of Aviko, announces an increase in its profit for 2016 in comparison to 2015, with better results in potato businesses.
Aviko performed very well in 2016, according to the financial results report for 2016. “The company made the most of the openings on the sales markets and improved its operating efficiency.
Aviko responded decisively to the lower availability of potatoes and improved its selling prices. Both the sales mix and the sales volume of potato specialities
and fries were improved, partly by higher exports. The granulate and flake activity (Aviko Rixona ) performed well in 2016. We have identified opportunities for further growth in our potato activities,” according to the financial report of the company.
The consolidated turnover of Royal Cosun amounted to EUR2bn, the same as in 2015, while operating profit rose to EUR77m (2015: EUR59m). At EUR55m, the net profit was significantly higher than in 2015 (EUR46m), thanks mainly to non-recurring items.
Development and innovation
Cosun is seeking profitable growth in existing and new activities that extract value from vegetable raw materials. All of Cosun’s business groups are working on product and process innovation. In fact, the company started construction work for a new innovation center at the Nieuw Prinsenland Agro & Food Cluster site in 2015. The R&D staff will move to the new center in the summer of 2017.
