Construction began in 2016 with the conversion of a 350,000-square-meter industrial property at the former Sfir sugar mill in San Pietro in Casale. This site's demolition and recovery work was fairly outstanding; in 2017, the first phase of the project was unveiled, which included a highly automated cold storage and logistics center.
The building of the industrial facility began in 2021 and was finished in early 2023, with approximately EUR70m euros spent on the project. The factory officially began operations on July 15th. The total investment for the new manufacturing facility at San Pietro in Casale (land, demolition, logistics hub, and production plant) exceeded EUR100m.
With the most cutting-edge technology, this production facility is the biggest in Southern Europe. When it is fully operational, it will triple the company's frozen potato production capacity and eventually enable the Pizzoli Group to receive 350,000 tonnes of raw materials annually from the farms.
In Italy, the total volume of frozen potatoes sold between the Retail and Food Service channels amounts to approximately 430,000 tonnes. Pizzoli can be found in all sales channels with its brands as well as a private label.
