Lamb Weston/Meijer Completes Acquisition of Oerlemans’ Potato Division

Lamb Weston/Meijer, the European joint venture of Lamb Weston Holdings, Inc., announced June 15th that it has completed its acquisition of the potato division of Oerlemans Foods.
The acquisition includes a frozen potato processing facility in Broekhuizenvorst, Netherlands, and will add approximately 85,000 tons of production capacity to Lamb Weston / Meijer’s existing network.
With this acquisition Lamb Weston / Meijer reinforces its leading position in the international market for frozen potato products and responds to both the increasing demand for frozen potato products as well as the growth ambitions of its customers. The sale allows Oerlemans Foods to further position itself as a specialist in frozen fresh fruits and vegetables.
Lamb Weston® is a world leading brand in high quality potato products, and is sold in over 100 countries around the world. Lamb Weston / Meijer serves markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Brazil. In addition, Lamb Weston / Meijer established a Joint Venture with the Russian Belaya Dacha to build a French fry factory in Russia. The company supplies frozen potato products like Twisters®, Potato Dippers and Connoisseur Fries to customers in the Foodservice, Quick Service and Retail segments.
Oerlemans Foods was founded in 1977 and is traditionally a producer and supplier of freshly frozen vegetables, fruit and potato products. Next to the domestic markets in Northwest Europe and Poland, Oerlemans exports to more than 40 countries worldwide. Oerlemans Foods focuses primarily on the development and production of private labels for the retail channels but also has a strong position in the food service channel with the Oerlemans Foods brand.
