Great American Snacks Announces Closure of Monroe Plant

Great American Snacks, Inc., a subsidiary of McCain Foods USA, Inc., has announced it will close operations at its Monroe, North Carolina, USA, manufacturing plant, due to the age of the building and challenging infrastructure.

"It is never an easy decision to close a plant, especially when it means job losses," said Jeff DeLapp, president North America, McCain Foods Limited. "It is our priority to ensure that all of our employees are treated fairly and respectfully. We will be offering severance packages, as well as outplacement assistance to all those impacted."

Products currently produced at the Monroe plant will be moved to other locations in the Great American Snacks supply network, to ensure a consistent supply for the company's customers, as well as the opportunity to enhance the company's products and services.

The full closure of Monroe is expected to be complete by the end of September.

In 2016, Great American Snacks, Inc., a subsidiary of McCain Foods USA, Inc., announced the successful completion of its acquisition of the operating business of Great American Appetizers, which was the owner at that time of the manufacturing plant in Monroe.
