Europatat Supports Its Members amid COVID-19 Crisis

As the COVID-19 is spreading through Europe, on top of the terrible human component and personal challenges that the outbreak is causing, there is also an unprecedented widespread disruption to businesses around the world, and not least to companies involved in the trade of agricultural products. Following the emergency measures taken by EU Member States, agri-food businesses are reporting increasing difficulties in their daily operations.

The potato sector faces thus a difficult time and Europatat is active in supporting its members, according to a press release.

Europatat monitors the situation and informs members of any developments via targeted email-alerts. Europatat also sent a letter to Janusz Wojciechowski, EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, in view of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Ministries informal meeting on the impact of COVID-19 on food supply chain, that took place recently.

Moreover, Europatat was contacted by DG AGRICULTURE to follow up on the information provided, in order to find solutions to support the potato sector and alleviate the situation.
