Canadian Spud Growers Organization Acquires Major Seed Production Company

Québec Parmentier, the only potato grower organization in Canada with its private varietal development program, recently announced the acquisition of Ferme G. G. & A. Montminy, a renowned and large-scale seed potato production company located in Péribonka.

Located in a Protected Cultivation Area, the new acquisition gives its new owners an undeniable advantage in terms of the quality of the seed potatoes produced.

“[...] This transaction allows, through our subsidiary SEQ Marketing, to meet the growing demand of our customers in terms of volume, quality, and varieties of seed potatoes; strengthening our position as a leader in the seed potato industry in Canada,” said Mr. Pierre Chouinard, Chief Executive Officer (CFO) at Québec Parmentier.

At his turn, Quebec Parmentier’s President, Kevin Rivard, added: “[...] We welcome the employees of Ferme G. G. & A. Montminy. We are confident that their experience, know-how, and commitment to success will be showcased within our organization.”

The importance of having a healthy seed production industry is essential to support table potato production, the Canadian company’s top management mentioned also.

“Considering that the seed potato industry is changing, this acquisition allows us to continue to meet our customers and their needs,” Kevin Rivard concluded.

Founded in 2012, the company brings together more than 25 families of potato producers. Québec Parmentier relies on innovation and attentive listening to its customers and consumers. The company distributes its products through its subsidiaries SEQ Marketing and Propur, where we find the Propur and Mamzells brands.
