Agristo Expands Further Within Europe and Develops First Production Site in the U.S.

Agristo recently revealed a significant development in its growth strategy: the opening of its first production facility in the U.S. and additional European expansion.

“Our commitment to meeting increasing demand in Europe remains our core focus. We’re expanding our production capacity in key locations, with ongoing developments at our site in Wielsbeke, Belgium, and preparatory work well underway for a new plant in Escaudoeuvres, France. These investments are designed to support growth and ensure we can meet future market needs efficiently,” the company’s representatives mentioned.

Having already ventured outside of Europe with a flake line in India, the company’s sights were now set on America.

“Agristo has already established a strong presence in the U.S. market, significantly increasing its private label segment market share. In recent months, we’ve collaborated closely with American farmers to test potato varieties that meet our high standards. These partnerships have strengthened our ties to the region and solidified our commitment to sustainable growth,” Agristo representatives added.

The business has chosen Grand Forks, North Dakota, as the site of its U.S. production facility for a number of important reasons. A robust agricultural community with extensive knowledge of potato growing exists in the state, providing beneficial chances for cooperation with regional players.

Extensive testing of potato types revealed that North Dakota's large agricultural acreage and optimal growing conditions were perfect. These experiments showed remarkable promise for the best possible crop quality and output. Furthermore, the region's vast acreage and development-friendly laws offer plenty of space for future expansion, which is exactly in line with our goal to grow as market demand keeps rising.

State Support and a Community-driven Approach

In the first phase alone, the Grand Forks location requires an initial expenditure of at least USD450m. The company's goal of reinvesting earnings into long-term value-generating projects that foster innovation, growth, and solid partnerships is reflected in this investment.

“Our approach isn’t just about expansion. It’s about creating shared value. Our re-investments help us build sustainable production sites and foster meaningful collaborations with stakeholders. Each project we undertake strengthens our ability to meet global demand while creating lasting benefits for the communities where we operate,” they announced.

The corporation received outstanding support from Grand Forks residents, farmers, and municipal leaders during the decision-making process. Their excitement reaffirmed Agristo's vision to create a center for cooperation and development rather than merely a production facility. The company's North Dakota facility is scheduled to break ground in 2025, and operations are expected to start by the summer of 2028. In addition to generating indirect investments in supply chains and agriculture, this investment is anticipated to strengthen local and regional economies by generating 300 to 350 direct jobs.

“This milestone underscores our resilience, ambition, and dedication to making a positive impact globally. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to creating value for our customers, communities, and partners through sustainable growth and delicious potato-inspired products,” the company’s representatives concluded.
