A New Regional Sales Director EMEA for Tomra Processed Food

Christian Tougaard has been named as the Regional Sales Director EMEA for Tomra Processed Food, a division of Tomra Food.

Christian's appointment comes after Tomra Food was divided into the Tomra Processed Food and Tomra Fresh Food business sectors earlier this year. In terms of sorting and peeling potatoes, nuts and dried fruits, fresh-cut vegetables, and proteins, Tomra Processed Food is the industry leader.

Christian Tougaard will collaborate closely with the staff, partners, and clients of Tomra Processed Foods in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Karel Strubbe, VP, and Head of Global Sales at Tomra Processed Food, who was promoted from his prior position as Regional Sales Director EMEA last January, is the person he reports directly to.

“These changes are part of Tomra Food’s strategy to tailor sorting and peeling solutions very precisely to the specialized needs of individual food categories. They are also part of our ongoing initiatives to work even more closely with customers. By really understanding our customers’ operational challenges and needs, we equip them with the best possible optical sorting and peeling solutions – and valuable data analysis – to help them improve efficiencies and reduce the total cost of ownership, creating higher profitability. Christian Tougaard was selected for this role not only for his experience but also for his customer-centric mindset, which is consistent with Tomra’s values. He has demonstrated a strong focus on tailoring solutions precisely to customers’ needs,” Karel Strubbe said.

Christian has a wealth of expertise selling to other businesses, specializing in processing solutions for the international food and environmental industries. He worked at Alfa Laval for 12 years before joining Tomra, directing business organization development in a variety of roles during a time when the company saw tremendous growth.

“I was attracted to Tomra Food by its leadership in innovative optical and peeling sorting solutions, the people I’ve met at the company, and the focus on sustainability. Tomra is solving important challenges such as food safety, and food quality, reducing food loss, creating better working conditions in food processing, and enabling food processors to keep up with demand. I am very excited about the growth potential and the challenges of taking the business and organization to the next level. Sales are about creating great customer experiences. I will listen carefully to customers to ensure that we continue providing them with the best possible solutions and a great working relationship with Tomra,” Christian Tougaard concluded.

Tomra Food designs and manufactures sensor-based sorting machines and integrated post-harvest solutions transforming global food production to maximize food safety and minimize food loss, by making sure Every Resource Counts.

The company has more than 12,800 units installed at food growers, packers, and processors around the world for Confectionery, Fruit, Dried fruit, Grains and Seeds, Potatoes, Proteins, Nuts, and Vegetables.
